YASTART Official Launch on 23rd March, 2022

23rd March, 2022 – YASTart Official Launching by our GUEST OF HONOR YB DATO SERI HAJI ABDUL KARIM, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry & Performing Arts; Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur, Sarawak.

Speech by Guest of Honor

My sincere and heartfelt congratulation to Madam Esther Law of YAST Group for launching YASTART arts and cultural platform , world’s first phygital (physical + digital) artwork platform assured by gold that is not only going to bring benefits to the development of arts and cultural industry in Sarawak, but also taking care of the less fortunate group along the progress.

As we all know, Sarawak has been blessed with rich cultural heritage and we have a vibrant creative community here, where we can showcase to the world our artworks, and create more decent jobs in creative industry, riding the trend of maturing creators’ economy through technology.

While many had been hit by the Pandemic for the past 2 years, it is timely that we have a platform to include the less fortunate groups in our society so that they have more and better options in upholding their livelihood. As we progress towards a more prosperous future, I believe it is important to progress together as a community, as a whole. That is where economic and financial inclusion come in, inclusive development that take into account every stakeholder in our society.

From what I can understand, YAST ART is where inclusive development comes in place, by providing a digital platform for artists with potential revenue streams to be generated. This is how YAST ART can assist corporates and sponsors in matching their CSR needs with related talents or artworks, in support of our Sustainable Development Goals.

Entrepreneurial development has always been my passion and vision as well. By following the journey and progress of YAST ARTs, entrepreneurs with the right model and value can enact in this global business module. As we can see, we have young entrepreneurs and artists already on board, and this is how we can develop sustainability for youths in Sarawak. YAST ART also is in line with our education in the state, in digitalization of education modules in Sarawak. As we can see, the formulation of YAST ART BUSINESS SCHOOL is how we can enact the right approach, and by having our very own Malaysian prominent figures, Master Roong Hua in leading artists and keen students in Sarawak, in a virtual classroom, with the proper learning management system. This is how YAST ART is a notable example on how we can bring the value of education, across borders, to the world.

I understand that YASTArt platform is Sarawak’s Homegrown idea originated by Madam Esther Law with the kind intention of bringing Sarawak to the world through digitalization of the arts and cultural sector. Being Anak Sarawak, it is aptly to initiate this effort here in our homeland. I thank the Organiser for inviting me as the Guest of Honor and I believe our team from Sarawak would make this global platform a successful one.

Our action starts right now, as we are ready to showcase the world our rich cultural heritage in the digital realm. All the best to Madam Esther and the team from YAST Group, YASTech and YASTArt.

In conclusion, I wish you all to have a successful and sustainable development of this art and cultural platform that is going to bring more our local talents and Sarawak as a whole to the world.

Thank you.
